BARTENDER
As a Bartender on a cruise ship, you will be responsible for preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to passengers in the bar and lounge areas. You will report to the Head Bartender and Assistant Bar Manager and supervise the performance of subordinate beverage operations positions, including Assistant Bartenders, Beverage/ Bar Servers/ Bar Waiters, and Bar Utility Staff. Additionally, you will ensure that the bar area is clean and well-stocked, handle cash and credit card transactions, and provide excellent customer service to passengers.
BAR STEWARDS / STEWARDESS
BAR STEWARDS/STEWARDESS (or Bar Waiter/Waitress) are responsible for serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to passengers in lounges, bars, and on decks. They report to the superior Beverage Operations positions aboard the cruise ship, such as the Bartender, Head Bartender, Assistant Bar Manager, or Beverage Director. In addition to serving drinks, they are responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and organization of the bar area, restocking supplies, and providing exceptional customer service to passengers. They may also be responsible for taking orders, handling cash and credit card transactions, and maintaining inventory records.
BAR BOY / BAR UTILITY
A Bar Utility or Bar Boy is responsible for assisting the bartenders in maintaining and organizing the bar area aboard a cruise ship. The Bar Utility reports to the Head Bartender and Bartenders and is responsible for keeping the bar, lounge, and pantry areas clean and properly organized. This includes cleaning all glassware and equipment, restocking bar items, and collecting and disposing of used items. The Bar Utility is also responsible for cleaning the lines of lounges and ensuring that there are enough bar supplies.
