A waiter/waitress on a cruise ship is responsible for providing excellent customer service to passengers at their assigned tables. They are knowledgeable about the food and beverage menus and can make suggestions to passengers. They are also responsible for following all USPH/UKPH regulations related to food service and ensuring that all work is carried out accordingly. In addition to taking orders, serving food and beverages, and clearing dishes, they are responsible for setting up tables with the necessary linen, silverware, China, and glassware. Overall, Waiters/waitresses should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment while also assisting in the setup of special events and functions as directed by the ship’s management.
ASSISTANT WAITER / WAITRESS
An Assistant Waiter/Waitress in a cruise ship typically assists the main waiter/waitress in providing food and beverage service to guests. Their responsibilities may include Supervising, training, and monitoring the performance of the subordinate Restaurant Operation positions assigned to his/ her workstation.
Setting tables, taking orders, serving food and drinks, clearing tables, and ensuring the dining area is clean and well-stocked. They may also be responsible to Participate in the rotational schedule working in the dining room and in other food and beverage outlets throughout the cruise ship while interacting with guests, answering questions, and resolving any complaints or issues that may arise. Additionally, they may help with inventory management and restocking supplies as needed. Overall, the role of an Assistant Waiter/Waitress is to provide exceptional customer service and contribute to a positive dining experience for cruise ship guests.
